How it works

How do I deploy a bot to my website?

Create a web chat channel, attach a bot, style it in Chat Appearance, paste one snippet into your site. Most teams are live in an afternoon.

  1. 01

    Create a Web Chat channel

In Channels, add a channel of type Web Chat and give it the domains it may run on.

  2. 02

    Attach a bot

Pick the bot that should answer on this channel. One bot can serve several channels.

  3. 03

    Style it

Chat Appearance sets your color, greeting, logo, direction and window size.

  4. 04

    Paste the snippet

Copy the embed snippet from the channel page into your site template.

  5. 05

    Send a test message

Open your site, ask the bot something from your knowledge, watch it appear in Live Conversations.

What you are setting up

A web chat channel is the floating chat window visitors see on your site. Behind it sits one of your bots, and behind the bot sit your Knowledge Banks and your Global Mind. Deploying the bot means connecting those pieces and putting a short script on your pages.

Create the channel

Open Channels and add a new channel of type Web Chat. Give it a name your team will recognize, for example “Main site” or “Help center”. Enter the domains the widget is allowed to appear on. The widget refuses to start on a domain that is not on this list, which stops anyone copying your snippet onto another site.

Attach a bot

Every channel needs exactly one bot. Choose one from the list or create a new one under Bots. The bot brings its own instructions, its limits, and the Knowledge Banks it can read. If you later want a different bot on this channel, switch it here. Visitors notice nothing.

Choose how much of your server is involved

BotableX offers three ways to identify a visitor to the widget:

  • Basic. The snippet alone. No work on your server. Visitors are anonymous or identified by details they type.
  • Server-issued identity. Your server tells the widget who the visitor is, so the bot can greet a logged-in customer by name and pull their record from your CRM.
  • Server-issued session. Your server opens the conversation itself and hands the browser a short-lived token. Nothing that could start a new conversation ever reaches the browser.

Start with Basic. Move up when you want personalized conversations for logged-in users. The channel page shows a ready-to-paste snippet for whichever option you pick, together with a step-by-step installation guide your web team can follow without a BotableX login.

Style it in Chat Appearance

Chat Appearance controls what visitors see: your accent color, light or dark mode, layout direction, the header title and subtitle, the greeting message, your logo or initials, the size and roundness of the launcher button, and the size of the chat window. Changes apply the next time the widget loads. You do not need to change the snippet.

Paste the snippet

Copy the snippet from the channel page and paste it into your site template just before the closing body tag, so it loads on every page. It is a single script tag plus a small settings block. Page load is unaffected because the widget loads after your content.

Test it

Open your site in a private window. The launcher should appear within a second. Ask a question you know is answered in one of the attached Knowledge Banks. The reply should arrive in a few seconds, and the conversation should show up in Live Conversations for your team, marked as handled by the bot.

When something does not work

If the launcher does not appear, check that the page’s domain is on the channel’s allowed list and that the snippet is on the page. If the bot answers “I do not have that information”, the Knowledge Bank may still be indexing or may not be attached to the bot. If the widget shows the wrong colors, reload once; appearance is fetched fresh on each load.
